i miss my high school friends so much. apparently, we are now miles away from each other but it was this year that we have agreed to have a reunion here in cebu. i laugh everytime i watch this video of ours. i miss hearing old stories (good ones only)! hahaha :) .... this has been long overdue since i tend to forget most of the time. now is my chance to reminisce the good times again, and share it with everybody. we've matured but there are still times that the child in us would spring out of nowhere, and it makes that instance more interesting! lol :P ... the best portion, teasing each other and name calling! hahahah :P i miss you, my friends! until the next reunion. for sure, it will be a BLAST! lol :)

after introducing Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu from my previous blog, i had the opportunity to chance upon a new cake and coffee shop, located just beside Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu. its called SLT cakes and coffee. SLT stands for "Sweet Little Things". Aint it cute?! lol :P its really just a small elegant place. can only accommodate 6 seaters the most... really just a small place (the width of the place can only accommodate 4 standing people (look at our pics below - lol )...lots of cute figurines inside for a coffee and cake shop... very girly indeed! hahaha :) here's how the interior looks like :) ... of course, when its dessert, Burnz will always be there! She has a sweet tooth, unlike me. lol :P i thought they'd be selling whole cakes and have slices for diners. I was surprised coz what they have are only cupcakes! lol :) .... maybe the owner is into cupcakery... here comes Burnz, the food enthusiast in her, who describes the Red Velvet Cupcake as if it was the most in-demand cake in the whole world! that's how exaggerated she is sometimes! hahaha :P Click on the pics to have a larger view. :) the red velvet cupcake is the one with red sprinkles on a white icing... that's the best i could describe it! hahaha :P... again, burnz didnt fail to impress me! it was indeed, heaven! a piece would cost you around Php 58.00.. not bad, for the taste is impeccable! definitely a must try! :)
tight hugs, AC this definitely defines my love for spices and asian cuisine! Burnz, my eating buddy and a cooking enthusiast, told me, that she'll give me some curry that i may use when i feel like cooking. i was so excited hearing it from her! hahaha :) i thought she'll just give me a an unopened sachet of indian curry from Gourmet (the brand i buy in local groceries whenever i feel like adding an international flavor to my dish- so hard to find these days that even Rustans doesnt carry such brand). i feel like a chef discussing this! hahahah.... Burnz has convinced me to try indian/malay cuisine, which i now love and drool from time to time! lol :)... to my surprise, she left me LOADS of curry before she heads for the US. I told you, she's the complete definition of a HOARDER! hahaha :P... i never knew of someone who keeps this much spice/curry in their homes, only Burnz! lol :P... look what she gave me?!!! it looks like a 6 months supply of curry! hahahaha :P ...and no, im not an indian or malay princess in my past life! maybe Burnz is! hahaha! :) to end my excitement, i texted burnz and asked her how to use these curry. Burnz called me up and gave me instructions... i was stressed out listening to her ingredients! from being a happy face, my face began to sour! hahahah! Burnz's ingredients are expensive and very restaurant-ish, meant only for special occasions! hahaha :P my type of cooking for today is for commoner and very hawk-ish peg! hahaha... though i can whip that laddle and turn something common into international level. chos! hahaha! :P... i told her, "no way im gonna use butter for cooking today, as the only ones who'll help me consume what i'll be cooking are our househelps!" ... she gave me a big laugh! lol :P ... in all fairness to our househelps, they are my number 1 fan when it comes to my cooking prowess. hahaha! they're all eyes to what im cooking when im in the kitchen! they get really excited when they see me in the kitchen coz they're sure of a food treat, and they're always the first to try my dish! hahahaha :)... they cant afford such dish in the malls and they hardly go to malls, except when they buy their toiletries... so, i make it a point that from time to time, i treat them with what i eat from fine restos with my own version, though not made from the finest ingredients, but they are assured that its been cooked from the heart with an inernational twist. chos! lol :) ... when i cook, i share to our househelps how much the dish im cooking would cost if they eat such at fine restos in the city. so that they'll also have an idea. two of our househelps are of a diff religion. they dont eat pork! they eat beef, chicken and seafoods only.. how social (sosyal), right?! beef is expensive, that goes the same with seafood... im left with chicken, so i go with chicken all the time, and its the least expensive! hahahaha :) so, after discarding the EXPENSIVE ingredients of Burnz (hahaha), i turned to the normal, coconut cooking oil! hahaha... i relied on my skill of sauteeing the ingredients to bring out its flavors (something i learned from the korean series "jewel in the palace" on one of jang jeums cooking episodes) hahahah... by the way, im cooking chicken curry, malay style! :P... i used eggpland and potato as extenders... copied from a BANANA LEAF resto dish! (where burnz and i had dinner last friday) lol :P... had to fry the eggplant first before mixing it with the main dish. i noticed that the indian curry has a lot of herbs in it, making the dish very aromatic, while our local curry doesn't have such. here's how my dish concluded. :P cooking is just one of my simple joys in life... u dont know how GOOD it feels if someone/many compliments your dish! its feels like heaven! hahaha :) Bon Appetit! :)
P.S. - Burnz, THANK YOU for all these CURRY! tight hugs, AC Bernadette Pacana, fondly called by friends as Burnz, Bernz, Berns (as long as it rhymes, the spelling doesnt matter!). haha :P... a beautiful person inside and out. not so lucky with love before, but i think the constellation of stars are completely aligned and brightly shining upon her nowadays. hahaha :) ... a fashionable person (we always have a peg on outfits when we go out! hahaha)... one hell of a hoarder! (dont argue with me on this burnz coz u'll definitely lose!) hahaha... SHOPPING is her only MORTAL SIN! (u'll never enter the gates of heaven coz of this!) hahaha!...the only person who laughs out loud and grabs my arm while laughing and squeezes it, even when she's driving! havent told you about this ses! hahahha... the only lady driver who runs on all road craters, which by the way makes me scream, ALL THE TIME! (i think the lasic surgery didnt help her at all!) hahaha :P... always my eating buddy with all the good food in town (in case u didnt notice) hahhaa... we love to eat! a yoga enthusiast, who eagerly convinced me into trying yoga... a very religious person (i always bring with me the mother of perpetual help prayer booklet u gave me)... a lady full of positivity in life... very charitable!... a person who'll love u unconditionally (chos!) very generous and thoughtful...a very good cook, as in! a very good influence in all aspects. :)... during the time when my stars were becoming dull, she prayed for me and with me... now that my stars have recuperated (hahaha) and are shining so bright, the more the need to always celebrate it with her! hahaha :P ... a tribu tribale fanatic, that explains the pic below why we're at the pent house, with an excuse saying, "its my last time to be here ses, join me!"... can i say NO?!!! hahaha :) you may be wondering why im blogging about her... well, she's going to be away for quite sometime, and be living in a foreign land where eyes are blue, green, violet and etc! hahaha... i'll definitely MISS her! She is just the sister I never had... we had a despedida for her... i won't end my blog without discussing the FOOD that we had a feast on! hahaha... Dennis Lim's pork and chiken adobo was to DIE for (what i ate the most and what burnz requested!) hahaha :P ... burnz's children spaghetti (requested by Pal) was really made to suit the taste of children! hahaha... yummy! my first time to try the chicken rolls, it was good... i prefer the shanghai rolls though... lol :P... we also had roasted chicken, grilled and stuffed with basil and rosemary... im so good at exaggerating! hahahha... kidding aside, it was just a plain roasted chicken, stuffed with lemon grass and coated with salt! bought in a nearby roasting station...haahhaa! we also had milk fish, stuffed with oregano, pepper thyme, and greased with extra virgin olive oil. OA? indeed! haha :P its just milkfish, stuffed with garlic, onion and salt, wrapped in a tin foil, then grilled! lol :P .... forgot to take pics of the pork barbeque... i must say Oli's Grill makes one of the tastiest barbecue in Cebu! a must try! hope i didn't make u hungry! hahaha :) To my dearest friend, Burnz, bon voyage! We'll surely be in-touch since I have a US line and through skype! i am very sure, you'll have so many nice stories to tell while you're in the US, and im looking forward to it, as in! hahahaha :) Luv u to pieces! :) tight hugs, AC check out my latest discovery of GOOD FOOD! why not this festive season, right?! lol :P... if you're in Cebu, this is a must visit! Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu, located at the second street (dont know the exact street! hahaha) from Park Lane Hotel. Just turn right on the 2nd street, there's no other building there except this... hehehe :P ... they have nice parking space, not the constricted type, so parking is a breeze... sleek and modern interiors... ambiance is very calming, makes you feel very comfortable... customer service was ok but not the best.. if you ask me why? well, when i sat down and was about to get my share of the soup in the pot, there's no soup laddle! its basic you know, soup should always have a soup laddle especially when you dine as a group! if you know what i mean... hehehe :P Anyways, we were really on a treat with good food here... an electric strove sunk at the middle of the table where you will cook the food by having it simmered. You're given the choice what to put in the pot! Burnz, my friend, is into sea food...so, seafood soup it is with loads of different veggies... they have a platter (not sure of the term), costs Php 600 plus i guess (i forgot) where it has the mix of different sea food and veggies. its good for 3 to 4 persons. not bad! definitely worth the price! me and burnz were accompanied by Fred and Jean. Burnz's highs school friends.... oh, i also took a pic of some of their menu's listings. there are tons of choices to choose from. of course, you'll need to put them in the pot, have it simmered, then eat... its the shabu way! lol :P... prices are really affordable. :P guys, if you have time, try visiting this place. its really really worth it! we might bump into each other (just say hi).... im coming back here, really really soon! luv it, luv it, luv it! hahahaha :)
